Interest-Driven Curriculum and Instruction

After reading many peer reviewed articles, I have created a pamphlet for students and parents to help them understand the benefits of interest-driven curriculum.  Many educators are using the term Project-Based Learning (PBL) and have faced many challenges from parents who can’t get past the ‘project’ idea of the curriculum.  They often ask, “So, my child is just going to produce a project? And there isn’t going to be a math block?”  But when we use the term interest-driven curriculum, the theory behind PBL becomes clear; students are guided through learning the curriculum through exploration of their interests with cross-curricular approach rather than subject based approach.  Here is the pamphlet I created. Feel free to print it off and use it.
